Endocrinology

Endocrinology is a medical specialty dealing with disorders of the glands and glandular systems. It includes the diagnosis and treatment of diseases involving the thyroid, pancreas, adrenal, parathyroid, ovaries, testes, pituitary and hypothalamus. The substances called hormones which are made by these glands control activities in your body such as metabolism, growth, development and reproduction. Physicians who specialize in endocrinology are called endocrinologists. They are trained to investigate, diagnose and treat endocrine disorders.
